Glide

Glide, the second number in a disc's flight numbers, represents a disc's ability to maintain lift and stay airborne during flight. Essentially, it indicates how far a disc will travel horizontally relative to its speed. A higher glide rating suggests the disc will float and carry further with less effort.

However, glide is not simply about effortless distance. While a disc with high glide can travel farther, it's also more susceptible to wind and requires precise control. A high-glide disc may not be ideal in windy conditions or for tight, technical shots where accuracy is paramount. Understanding how glide interacts with speed, turn, and fade is essential for selecting discs that match your throwing style and the demands of the course. For beginners, discs with moderate glide are often a practical choice, offering a balance between distance and control for more manageable and consistent flights.
